Online Casino Management Courses

The International Gaming Institute's online gaming management courses provide the utmost in professional development training. Enjoy the stimulation of interacting with fellow students from throughout the world as you brainstorm and share gaming philosophies, methods, and practices with other gaming industry professionals.

Each online course semester is eight weeks in duration, is instructor lead and paced, and is available to you to access 24 hours a day 7 days a week - barring unforeseen technical difficulties. Expect to devote a minimum of 8 hours per week on your course. Weekly class discussions participation and quizzes, a mid term, and a final are standard course assessments.

For all online courses you will need a reliable computer with a current version of a web browser such as , Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer; a sound card with speakers; an Internet Service Provider with high-speed connection; proficiency in working in a web-based environment (opening links, using browser buttons, accessing video and audio files, scrolling, downloading plug-ins, etc.); using email; and opening, modifying, and saving files.

Casino Auditing I

This course is intended to help the student develop or enhance your casino internal controls, policies, and procedures. Topics include casino internal control and management's responsibility, internal audit and the regulatory process, currency transactions reporting, minimum internal control standards (MICS) and the system of internal control, casino cage, slots, table games, casino fraud, and analyzing casino operations.

Instructor:

Toni Repetti, who has over 17 years of gaming experience in all areas of operations and 14 years in Finance and Accounting, has held positions with various levels of responsibility in finance from Analyst to Corporate Director of Finance for numerous properties. Her experience includes working with Las Vegas Strip properties, Midwest casinos, and tribal gaming properties, in areas of budgeting, strategic planning, analysis, property acquisitions, financial reporting, compliance, system implementation, training, and audit. Toni is also an instructor for finance, accounting and gaming courses in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She received a Masters of Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is also a certified managerial accountant (CMA) and a certified hospitality educator (CHE).

Introduction to Casino Management

This course is designed to identify, contrast, and compare basic casino department management procedures. At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to and apply the basic procedures of managing a casino within a resort setting. Students will examine and discuss the relationship between the casino department and other departments in a hotel/casino environment. Course content will focus on game selection, controls, layouts, gaming development and customer service.

Instructor:

Rich Lehman has over 30 years of gaming experience and is a former educator in developing gaming operations. He is an expert in slot operations, game development and marketing through his tenure as a high level executive for companies such as Caesars Palace, Boyd Gaming, Circus Circus, Park Place Entertainment, Navegante Gaming where he held positions as Vice President of Slots, Vice President of Casino, and General Manager. Effective Human Resource Management in the Gaming Industry

Being knowledgeable about human resources is not enough to play an important strategic role in your organization. You also need to apply your knowledge of HR to the specific issues your organization faces and sell your solutions to management. This is a unique course in that it includes: (1) current issues in human resources and (2) training in how to earn management's confidence, which will allow you to play a key strategic role in your organization.

The course is targeted to HR managers and HR line staff interested in moving into management. Introduction to Casino Math for Industry Professionals

What’s our theoretical win per player? Can we maximize revenues with the types of players in our property? These are just some of the important questions posed by casino operators and managers. Hence, they should be armed with the proper techniques that will enable them to understand and prepare casino metrics.

In the world of gaming, analytics are the foundation of company’s financial projections and marketing programs. This course will address the techniques and methods for computing the probabilities, expected values, and house percentages of casino games, and analyze the effects of changes in playing rules and payoff odds. It will enable students to develop a basic understanding of price setting, volatility and complimentary (comp) rules, and the methods of computing rebates and discounts. The class will also take a brief but comprehensive look at regulatory issues.

Singh, Ph.D., and Professor, Hotel Management Department (2006 - current), has been teaching Mathematics of Casino Games and advanced statistics classes including Time Series Forecasting and Data Mining in Harrah Hotel College at UNLV. Introduction to Statistics for Casino and Hospitality Professionals

Statistics comes right after the three R’s when it comes to managing a small or large organization (e.g. a small division is a business organization or a large corporation). With the current emphasis on quality of service a business organization provides to its customers, the use of statistics in all organizations (business, government, etc.) has seen unprecedented growth. This is especially true for casinos and hospitality business. Hence, casino managers and operators must have a clear understanding of basic statistical concepts and techniques to be able to succeed.

Title 31 - Fundamentals of Anti-Money Laundering Practices for Gaming Professionals

Students will study fundamental reasons for Anti-Money Laundering techniques and learn to recognize common techniques used by criminals to accomplish laundering of illicit funds. A practical approach to risk analysis will be followed by learning the fundamental requirements of Title 31 as it applies to the Casino Business from both the Operations and back office approach. Professional Security and Surveillance Standards in the Hospitality Industry
