About The International Gaming Institute
The UNLV International Gaming Institute (IGI) is part of the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration. The goal of the Institute is to be the premier source of information and training for the gaming industry. Our mission is to provide custom educational programs, conduct gaming research, and disseminate gaming knowledge, through seminars, webinars, classes, symposia, distance education, and publications, to businesses, governments, and industry professionals throughout the world. IGI also conducts gaming research and publishes the twice-yearly UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal, a publication that reaches inside the gaming industry to cover up-to-date laws and regulations, management techniques, technology, trends and developments.
IGI is a non-profit academic facility that fills a much needed role in training regulatory agents and Board and Commission members. The regulatory training is done in concert with the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Classes include Pre-Licensing and Background Investigations, Financial Investigative Techniques for Non-Financial Professions, and Law Enforcement and Criminal Activity. In February 2009, IGI will also offer the Gaming Regulators Development Program. The program is geared toward new regulators and is designed to broaden management and leadership skills while enhancing a participant's knowledge of gaming regulation and the gaming industry.
The International Gaming Institute regularly offers Gaming and Hospitality Professional Development Seminars and Courses at the Stan Fulton Building, on the UNLV campus. Online courses in Casino Management and Best Practices in Casino and Gaming Protection are also offered.
The IGI specializes in Custom Programs for gaming executives and groups of 20 or more. Custom programs usually consist of 1 to 3 weeks of training and are taught by UNLV professors and industry professionals. IGI also provides customized training, off-premises, to gaming industry professionals worldwide.
